The Weekender: August 12-14

Happy Friday! Do you have any fabulous weekend plans? Below are some great ideas for your August weekend.

A Sunday BBQ. Join b.good for their 8th Annual Family Barbecue this Sunday. There will be tons of delicious eats, local beer, live music and local art. $15 for adults and free for kids. All proceeds benefit Sidewalk Sam and his foundation, ArtStreet. Visit the event site to purchase tickets.

Take Your Pick: Nature or History. As part of Free Fun Fridays, the JFK Library and Museum and the Arnold Arboretum are open to the public for free today. Spend some time looking at the classy wardrobe of Jackie O. or wander around the arboretum in search of your favorite tree.

Fine Dining. Restaurant Week is back! This Sunday kick starts the first of two weeks. So many delicious choices!

For the Love of Burritos. Join Anna’s Taqueria for the 5th Annual Anna’s Walqueria this Sunday. Highlights of the half walking marathon include: free food at each store, free to participate — and, get this, Anna’s will donate $5 to The Home for Little Wanderers for each participant (we love this!). For more information, be sure to visit the Facebook event page.

It’s a Piece of Pie. What’s better than a pie eating contest? In our opinion, not much. This Sunday, you can sample pies from local bakeries in honor of Spontaneous Celebrations’ pie contest. Sounds pretty amazing! Tickets are $20 and proceeds benefit the HardtHaven Children’s Home and the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. As always, have a great weekend!
