The Weekender: August 26-28

Can you believe it is the last weekend in August? This summer  just flew by. Do you think so? If you’d like to share what you’re up to this weekend, let us know on Facebook. We love to hear what you’re doing to celebrate the weekend!

Bring it on, Irene! Are you ready for the potential hurricane sweeping through Massachusetts this weekend? Be sure to stay safe — and have fun! Here at The BDB, we like to make the best of the situation — so if Irene shows up at our door, we’ll be ready with an 80’s movie marathon, dark chocolate and sea salt popcorn and confetti, naturally. Why not, right? :)

Brewfest on the Shore. This Saturday, Indian Ranch will be hosting Summer Brewfest from 2:00-6:00pm. What’s in store? Live music from the Racky Thomas Band, beach views, and lots of beer.

It’s a Feast! This weekend, Saint Anthony’s Feast will take over the North End cobblestone streets. Go for the entertainment, and don’t forget to grab a cannoli on your way out.

Island Music. Talented students of Berklee College of Music will be belting out this Saturday on George’s Island for the final Berklee Music Fest. With a fantastic backdrop, you can hum along to tunes varying from R&B to soul and rock. Be sure to snag your ferry tickets — the concert begins at 4:00pm.

DJ, Art, Water. These are three of our favorite things. The final night of the DJs on the Harbor series will take place this evening at the Institute of Contemporary Art. DJ Samson will be spinning tunes and we can assure that you’ll be making new moves on the dance floor. Access to the museum galleries is included in the ticket price ($10-15). Pretty awesome, right?

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Enjoy your weekend — and stay safe!
