Happy Memorial Day Weekend! We hope that you enjoy this weekend – no matter where you are or what you do! It’s going to be quiet in the city (which we secretly love) and if you find yourself staying in town, here’s what we suggest.

Hop on a Bike! With temperatures rising to the mid-eighties tomorrow, we think a little fun in the sun is required. We are all about biking this summer – and with trails like this, you should be, too!

Honor Our Veterans. In remembrance of our veterans, consider attending a parade this Memorial Day Weekend. Also, honor the creative spirit within you by stopping by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Memorial Day Open House this Monday.

Celebrate with El Centro. This weekend marks El Centro’s one year anniversary. The South End restaurant will be celebrating today and tomorrow with a Mariachi band, free appetizers and a few specials! We recommend dining in the new patio area!

Head to the Greenway. Do you love SoWa? If so, you’ll love it’s little sibling, The Greenway Open Market, scheduled to open tomorrow. Similar to SoWa, there will be art and craft vendors, food trucks and more. Plus, The Rose Kennedy Greenway is one of our favorite places to hang out!

Bring the Islands to You! Jealous of those headed out to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard this weekend? No need to be! Join Mercato del Mare for a free oyster shucking class tomorrow, 1-3pm.

Day Trip. Want to get out of town for a day trip adventure? There are so many great spots around New England, but this weekend we recommend Meredith, New Hampshire. The Castleberry Memorial Weekend Craft Festival will be taking place all weekend. Go get your dose of Americana!

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. We wish you a wonderful and safe Memorial Day Weekend!
