The Weekender: February 13-15

weekender

After spending the first part of this week hibernating, we’re ready to get outside and enjoy some fresh air before the next snow comes this weekend! As Valentine’s Day nears, we’re feeling extra grateful for all of you. We hope you treat yourself to a little extra something special. Have a great weekend!

Celebrate Love! Not sure what to do this Valentine’s Day weekend? We’d love to see one of our favorite old films, Casablanca, at the Brattle Theatre and spend the afternoon at the MFA, where they’re focusing on love all month long. If you want to mark the holiday with kids in tow, why not celebrate with brunch and crafts? Sounds perfect to us.

A Day of Wine. This weekend, the Boston Wine Expo takes over the Seaport World Trade Center with chef demonstrations, large tasting areas, and seminars. Make sure to get a discount of 10% off the Grand Tasting on either day by using the promo code SOCIAL.

Take a Bite. The Nave Gallery in Somerville is hosting an opening reception for Bite, an exhibition of art made with food and about food, this Saturday evening. Sounds so neat, right? If you plan to attend, please note that the gallery is collecting food and toiletries to support the Somerville Homeless Coalition’s Project Soup.

A Good Laugh. Award-winning comedian and Massachusetts native, Mike Birbiglia is in town this weekend. Tickets are still available here!

South Station Swing. Probably the coolest thing happening this weekend, New School Swing is hosting a free swing dance event at South Station on Saturday. The evening starts at 8pm with a beginning lesson and then live music will encourage you to dance all evening long.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
