Dining at Island Creek Oyster Bar

We are always on the look out for that special place to not only eat but to have an experience.  Nestled in the heart of Kenmore Square, Island Creek Oyster Bar offers all that and more.  A part of the iconic Hotel Commonwealth, you don’t have to venture far to find the best oysters in town.

Where modern meets rustic, the decor and ambience of Island Creek Oyster bar is welcoming and refreshing. While I waited on my dinner date, I was seated at a cozy table for two and presented with drink and food menus.  A separate order form for oysters and other delights from the raw bar was placed in front of me. Finally, at closer look, they list who is working each station in the kitchen. A very clever and warm touch!

After ordering my favorite drink, a Cosmopolitan, I sipped and perused our choices for the evening.  This is the moment when up to this point, I had never eaten a raw oyster.  My friend soon arrived and we picked three types of oysters to try.  I was blown away by the meticulous way Island Creek Oyster Bar takes to prepares and presents their oysters.  It was love at first sight and bite!

I followed up my oysters with the mouth-watering lobster roll.  I’ve had many lobster rolls, but this one wins for sure! Very fresh and beautifully presented.  I was sorry it was so good that I ate it all.  The leftovers would have been a nice lunch and the envy of my coworkers, however it was so good that I had to eat it all!

We ended with a couple more drinks for dessert and swore we were going to walk home, our bellies were so full!

Overall, Island Creek Oyster Bar is an experience all Boston foodies (and visitors) must enjoy.  The staff was wonderfully attentive and our water glasses were always full and our well being was checked on multiple times. I already have plans to celebrate my big 3-5 there in September!

Items to order:  Fresh and tantalizing raw oysters or the tangy lobster roll.  Many more mouth-watering delights on their dinner menu here.

Make your reservation: Monday-Thursday, 4-11pm, Friday-Saturday, 4-11:30pm or Sunday Brunch, 10:30am-3pm, Dinner, 4-11pm.
