An Update: Milo at 6 months
The days have been flying by so quickly. I can’t really believe that Milo has already passed the 6 month mark. Well he’s technically 7 months now, but I like to look back on these updates after the entire month unfolds. :)
Milo is really developing his own personality and it’s so amazing to witness it. This month, he started sitting up (mostly still assisted, but still…) and I can only imagine how different the world around him feels and looks. We baby proofed thanks to Laura’s advice to start early. We had Tom of Safe Solutions of New England come to install baby gates for our staircase and a few baby-friendly outlet plugs. It was helpful to have an expert come into our space and tell us what would make sense to baby proof and what he’d leave alone. We’re not totally done yet, but atleast we have a plan! I know it’s not long before he’s crawling and moving around. I think we’re inching closer every day.
We had lots to celebrate this month – Milo’s first Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s Eve and my sister, Carolyn’s wedding. It was a really special few weeks and he loved seeing so many friends and relatives.
We started solid foods this month, which feels very momentous. Like what?! So far, we’ve tried oatmeal, sweet potato, avocado, banana, apples, and pear. He doesn’t really seem into anything we give him (aside from Baby Mum Mums — he loves those!), but I know it’s a matter of time. We’ve also been offering him sips of water and it’s kind of the cutest thing ever. As a sidenote – these bibs are a lifesaver.
No teeth yet, and I swear everyday I say “there coming soon!”, but they really must be coming soon.
Milo passed his Global Entry interview. No arrests for this little guy! Our next trip is coming up in just three weeks (eek!) where we’ll be going to Japan (wish us luck for that long haul flight) and then to France to visit my grandfather. Milo spent a lot of time hanging with Serena this month. They’ve really started to notice each other and I love to see how they communicate.
I feel like I’m starting to get into the groove of things, too. Becoming a mom has been such a huge shift for me (more on that here). So much attention is given to labor and delivery and no one really talks about how the transition will actually feel. For me, the loss of control was really challenging and I’m finally starting to feel like I have traction under my feet again. Which feels amazing for many reasons, but also because I can now really be present and enjoy Milo so much more.
This is such a special age, and I’m so grateful to be able to spend so much time watching as Milo’s personality unfolds each and every day. He’s constantly learning new things (currently he’s practicing his wave!) and it’s so amazing to see how he interacts with the world around him.
