Different Strokes at the fpacgallery
Artists are are often in conversation through their artwork — think of all the exhibitions devoted to these friendships, mentorships, and sometimes frenemies-ships! An exhibition currently on view through February 3 at Fort Point’s fpacgallery (300 Summer Street) focuses on the work of a group of nine artists who work together each week together with their mentor, Elizabeth DaCosta Ahern. While each artist has their own perspective, this sharing inspires borrowing of a technique, a color, a material — at times direct and other times more subtle. I can’t wait to see it myself!
P.S. If you are free tonight, the opening reception and artists’ talk is this evening from 5:30-7:30pm. The format sounds unusual and engaging — beginning with the question “have you ever wondered how a painting was created?” the artists and gallery visitors will leave post-it notes for each other next to each work, encouraging people to circle back, revisit, and comment again.
