The Weekender: February 17-19

Wow, is it just us or did this week fly by? Things have been so busy lately, that we are really looking forward to taking it easy over the next few days. Hope you have some fun things planned! A few ideas:

Celebrate and Gather Here. We love how there has been such a resurgence of crafts like sewing and knitting the last few years. Gather Here is a lovely shop in Cambridge with all kinds of supplies, and even better, classes you can take and a studio that you can use! The concept is so great, and we had so much fun taking a few classes here a while back. On Sunday, celebrate their 6th birthday with 20% off $50+, s’mores, screen printing, and embroidering activities.

Boston Winter. Have you been to Boston Winter at City Hall Plaza yet? The festival area, with ice skating and a rustic drink lodge, is open through February 26. We love seeing activity on City Hall Plaza all year long!

Wine Tasting. The Boston Wine Expo is this weekend, and it definitely takes things to the next level! We’ve been a few times, and the area is massive — so many wines to try. There are also classes, chef demos, and tastings. This is a pricey event, so you may want to make an afternoon of it.

Catch a Film. Sci-fi fans should check out the Boston Si-Fi Film festival at the Somerville Theatre this weekend, culminating in a huge marathon. Find out more and buy tickets here. We are planning to see La La Land tonight — I hope it’s good! I really wanted to see Hidden Figures, and have heard such good things, but the movie times didn’t work for tonight. Any others to add to my list?

Museum Holiday. Admission to the ICA is free on President’s Day, plus they have three new exhibitions on view!

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
