The Weekender: March 24-26
Happy Friday! I have been on the road a lot lately, and it feels so nice to be home. I’m heading up to Salem tomorrow to visit the Peabody Essex Museum with a good friend and her little baby. It should be fun to walk around (and stay warm indoors) and Salem is so cute. Hope you have a wonderful few days.
March Madness. This Sunday, join Bambara for a bracket-style competition where 10 local bartenders will get creative and serve their best Bloody Mary. Guests will sample and vote for their favorite while snacking on brunch appetizers — yum! Proceeds from the event will benefit the local food rescue organization, Lovin’ Spoonfuls. Participating restaurants, tickets, and more information available here.
Fun in the Tropics. If you’re in need of a tropical getaway, you can experience one close to home this weekend at the Franklin Park Zoo. The Roaring Nights party will feature a DJ, animal-themed games, appetizers and a cash bar. And of course it will include some wild guests!
The Man in the Cowboy Hat. Carlos Arredondo first appeared in the news when he learned that his son, Alex, had died fighting in Iraq. The Man in the Cowboy Hat follows Carlos for the next ten years as his story evolves from grief-stricken father to activist. Filmmakers Janice Rogovin and Laura McLam as well as Professor Chris Appy, film journalist Erin Trahan, and Carlos Arredondo will lead a a post-screening panel discussion. The screening is free and open to the public. Tickets available here.
Spring Wardrobe. The Gilt Sample Sale is back this weekend! Admission includes on-demand alterations, a pop-up from Crane & Lion, a DJ, and more. The sale will feature 80% off designer brands including Tibi, Sandro, Maje, The Kooples, Derek Lam, and Helmut Lang.
