The Weekender: April 7-9

boston-weekend-events

Milo has been sick all week, and so I’m looking forward to finally getting out of the house this weekend. The rain makes it so much harder to be home with a sick baby. Hope you have a great weekend, and enjoy the warmer temperatures!

First Fridays. As it’s the first Friday of the month, head to SoWa this evening as artists, shops, and restaurants open their spaces for SoWa First Fridays. The event is free, and open to the public.

Banned in Boston. The Urban Improv Unit, a group made up of Boston’s business leaders, elected officials, and media and arts personalities, will take the stage at the House of Blues tonight for Banned in Boston. This year’s cast includes Mayor Marty Walsh, Attorney General Maura Healey, City Councilor Tito Jackson, along with many others. Tickets and more information available here.

Support Art! The 28th annual MassArt Auction takes place tomorrow, featuring over 300 works of art.  The evening will feature a live and silent auction, cocktails, and more. The annual auction provides scholarship aid and academic program support for MassArt students. Tickets and details here.

Easter Egg Hunt! If you’re looking to kick off the Easter celebrations this weekend, here’s a list of Easter egg hunts happening around town.

And some weekend reading:

– Looking to try a new restaurant in town this weekend? Head to Central Square’s Little Donkey. This week, we shared our favorite dishes. But honestly, order everything!

Thoughts on fear, gratitude, and motherhood.

– Hanna Andersson is having a sale! 20% off almost everything, plus free shipping for orders over $100. How adorable is this dress? If only I had a girl!

– Beyond happy to see sunshine this weekend? Me too! As the temperatures begin to warm up, I have picnics on the mind. And cute spring outfits!

– Lauren of Aukalife just launched an Indiegogo campaign to support the first bulk manufacturing run of her superfood blends.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
