The Weekender: April 14-16
What a beautiful day it is out! This sunshine feels so good, and I’m looking forward to all the days of mild weather and blue skies ahead. Happy Easter weekend and Passover to those who celebrate! We hope you have some fun things in store this weekend — here are a few good ideas:
Spring! It’s finally really feeling like spring, and with that we want to walk outside all day, and then come home and organize our closets. (Why does that chore feel more fun in the springtime? Something about letting things go and lightening up on the belongings as the weather gets nicer feels so right.)
The Nile Project. In a cross-cultural collaboration, musicians from 11 countries in the Nile Basin speaking 10 different languages perform together in Somerville this Saturday. What an amazing group, and a fascinating window into the music of this part of the world! Tickets are $35 — find out more here.
Yoga for Civil Liberties. Coolidge Corner Yoga is hosting a slow flow yoga class this Saturday from 1-2:30 to benefit the ACLU. Tickets start at $25, and all proceeds go directly to the ACLU — how great! See more about the class and sign up here.
Cambridge Science Festival. This festival brings together lectures, debates, exhibitions, films, workshops and more celebrating science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The schedule of events spans 10 days, and includes something to interest everyone! Take a look at the online program here.
A Dose of Art. A new exhibition on Matisse, a powerful exhibition of photos from within a Polish ghetto in the 1940s, and a chance to see 24 paintings by Sandro Botticelli (opening tomorrow) are all compelling reasons to visit the MFA this weekend. We are also really excited to see the new version of Beauty and the Beast, and Boston’s International Film Fest happening this weekend has lots of intriguing options. Plus, sci-fi movies take over the Brattle Theatre as part of the Cambridge Science Festival.
