Dinner at B3: Back Bay Beats, Great Food, and Berklee Talent

A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of dining at the recently opened B3. Located at 160 Mass Ave nearby to Berklee College of Music, the restaurant combines delicious food with live music featuring talent from Berklee seven nights a week (with no cover!). We are such huge fans of the students and faculty at Berklee, and love popping into the school for the student showcases or other concerts, so the concept had us intrigued.

After our visit, we were more than intrigued — we are hooked! We will absolutely be back for dinner or brunch, and can’t wait to enjoy the live music in this fun space. The southern-inspired food from Chef Nic Swogger (formerly of Hungry Mother and Bouré) was absolutely delicious, as were the cocktails and wine selections that we sampled. Natalie loved the ham biscuits, while my favorite dish (along with some meat eaters!) was the Sichuan braised eggplant and tofu. The tofu was so light and crisp, and the sauce tying to the eggplant was perfectly flavored. I really appreciated the kitchen’s ability and desire to have something for everyone — they were extremely accommodating to dietary restrictions, and in particular vegetarian dishes here are given lots of care and thought.

Besides the regular menu, the kitchen is going off menu on Sundays with an inventive menu served at communal tables. Sounds like another fun way to check out this great new spot! Find more info about B3 on their website.
