The Weekender: April 21-23

What a raw day — hope you are staying cozy. What are your plans this weekend? We are celebrating our mom’s birthday tomorrow with a little brunch, and I’m going to be checking out SoulCycle for the first time on Sunday. I’m excited! Here are a few fun ideas for the weekend…

Celebrate Records! Jamaica Plain’s Tres Gatos is one of my favorite places. It’s such a great concept: a record and bookstore inside a tapas restaurant. After you grab a drink from the bar, you can wander into the back of the restaurant and enter the record store to peruse one of Boston’s largest record offerings. So fun! On Saturday, Tres Gatos is celebrating International Record Store Day with free pastries and coffee — and a big store-wide sale!

<3 Local Art. East Boston is a growing community of artists and creatives. This weekend, see how the neighborhood is becoming an art destination as local artists open their studios for the 17th annual East Boston Open Studios. You can learn more about the artists and event here (and it’s only a 5 minute walk from the Maverick T stop).

The Greatest Party on Earth. This Saturday, Artists for Humanity is hosting the 12th Annual Greatest Party on Earth, a festive evening capturing the spirit and creativity of AFH artists, designers, and supporters. Proceeds from the event support 250+ under-resourced teens working at AFH. The party is 21+. Tickets and more information here.

Cheers! Wine Riot is bringing the world of wine to the Boston Park Plaza this weekend. Taste hundreds of international wines, visit interactive booths where you can learn plenty of tips, and enjoy a bubbly bar! Details and tickets available here.

And a few fun things:

– Hanna Andersson is having a huge sale through Sunday, 4/23! 30% off almost everything and free shipping over $100. We stocked up on some summer essentials.

– This Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day! We plan to spend a little extra time outside. I’m currently cleaning up my patio and am looking forward to planting some flowers this weekend. How will you celebrate?

– ICYMI: Milo is growing up so fast — and is officially on the move! Read the most recent update here.

– Have you been to Terra yet? We’re trying it out in a few weeks, and can’t wait.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
