The Weekender: May 19-21
Wow, this weather shift has been wild! It feels like the middle of summer today, but the rest of this weekend will be back down to cooler spring weather. We are so looking forward to having a few days to relax, and hope you have some fun things planned! Here are a few ideas:
Prom Night. If you are feeling nostalgic, dress in your prom attire and head to Everett’s Fermentation District tonight — Bone Up Brewing, Night Shift Brewing, and Short Path Distillery will all have drink specials. More here.
HarpoonFest. Another way to enjoy some local drinks this weekend, HarpoonFest will features drinks, food, and live music tonight and Saturday. Entrance is first come, first served, with tickets at $25. Read more here.
Open House! The Trustees care for some of the most beautiful land and interesting historic homes in the area. Tomorrow between 10am-4pm, in honor of Preservation Month, they are offering free visits to ten historic homes where admission is normally charged, including a several that are open only a few times a year! The sites range from a mission house from the 1740s to a post-modern architectural gem. See a list of participating houses and find more information here.
Flowers Everywhere. Things are in bloom everywhere we look, and Serena has taken to patting (gently) the flowers on our walk to the playground. It is so nice to take some time to admire them instead of rushing by, although we might not all feel the need to pat and ooh and ah over each one the way my toddler does! The Public Garden has been magnificent lately, and the perfect spot for a picnic, reading on a bench, or sipping coffee and watching people go by.
Beach Bash. The DayBreaker series is marking the beginning of beach season with a beach party — Sunday morning at a nightclub! Yoga, dancing, house music, and hulu skirts — why not?! See more here.
Let’s Go Fly a Kite! This Sunday (11am-2pm) is the Revere Beach Kite Festival. There will be music, face painting, and professional kite-flyers showcasing their large kites (how cool to be a professional kite-flyer!). Plus, the first 300 children receive a free kite to keep and decorate.
P.S. Last chance to enter our giveaway for a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins. Have a lovely weekend!
