The Weekender: October 28-30

Are you celebrating Halloween this weekend? We’re excited to attend a costume party with friends, share a few laughs, and drink some seasonal pumpkin beer. We hope you’re indulging in lots of tricks and treats. Here’s a list of great activities and events scheduled for this weekend.

Monster Mash. Boston has no shortage of Halloween parties all weekend long. Dress in your craziest costume and head out to your favorite local bash. Dogs can even attend their own Howl-o-ween party on Saturday afternoon at the South Boston Bark Park!

Spooky Scary. For a truly frightening Halloween experience, check out The Fear at Fenway. A short drive from the city, Salem, home to the infamous Witch Trials, is a Halloween hot spot and features ghost tours and witch museums. Plus Salem’s 6.66 mile Devil’s Chase takes place Saturday morning. For a less bone chilling experience, we’d suggest watching a scary movie at home while cuddled under a cozy blanket.

In the Kitchen. Roll up your sleeves and practice your cooking skills. Join Chef Chad Sarno early this evening at Charles River Plaza’s Whole Foods to sample fall favorites with a healthy twist. Decorate skull cookies at Nomad on Saturday afternoon in Cambridge.

Frightening Forecast. Snow in October?!? Yesterday was windy and rainy, and some parts of New England even received a dusting of snow. More wintery weather is predicted for later this weekend. We hope you stay warm and dry. Use this time to refresh your winter wardrobe. Shop for a jacket, gloves, and boots: the Boston cold weather essentials!

Shop til You Drop. Saturday’s SLAM Halloween Local Artist Market in Somerville features Halloween crafts, unique jewelry, textiles, paintings, wearable art, and so much more. For SoWa Open Market’s final Sunday, it transforms into the Market of the Living Dead. Ghoulish delights include live music, games, free treats, and a costume contest.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
