The Weekender: January 6-8

Hello to you and to 2012! We hope you’ve been having a wonderful new year so far. Here are our top picks for this non-holiday (but still fabulous) weekend ahead.

First Friday! Join your friends at SoWa for open studios tonight. As always, there will be new artists to discover and old friends to see. If you go, be sure to check out a curated show featuring work by students from the Museum of Fine Arts School.

Shopper’s Delight. Head to Louis Boston this weekend as their famous bi-annual 50% off sale starts tomorrow!

Nouveau Classic Cocktails. We’ve been craving a cocktail all week – and what better place to satisfy our desire then by heading to The Hawthorne, an innovative bar in Kenmore Square’s Hotel Commonwealth.

One Minute. We love going to see plays and musicals – but sometimes we can get a little antsy. Well, not this weekend at the Boston One Minute Play Festival, which will showcase many 60 second performances to keep you on your toes.

Old Fashioned Pancake Breakfast. These cold and dark winter days certainly require a little comfort food. Cozy up with a stack of pancakes at Verrill Farm in Concord this weekend. We promise you’ll be taking a maple syrup induced nap afterwards.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a happy weekend!
