The Weekender: April 26-28

the weekender

April has gone by so quickly – we can’t believe it! With the sunny weather this weekend, spring is in full-force. We are hoping to get outside and enjoy the spring air! Here are our top picks for this weekend.

Street Seats Opening Celebration. We love when art and design live in public, and we have been following Design Museum Boston’s international competition to design outdoor furniture for Fort Point Channel, Street Seats. This Saturday afternoon, the 20 semi-finalists will be revealed at the Street Seats Opening Celebration. Come and participate, by having a seat, enjoying the view, and voting for your favorite bench!

Spring Flowers. We can’t get enough of the beautiful flowering trees in the Back Bay and elsewhere. Take a stroll this weekend and revel in the fresh air and sweet blooms.

Slow Art Day. This Saturday is Slow Art Day! This great event encourages people to look at art slowly, taking 10 minutes with each work. Across the globe, participants look works of art slowly, and then discuss the experience as a group. Join an event (MFA, Isabella Stewart Gardner, Harvard Museum of Natural History) or take an extra moment to admire something beautiful on your own.

Sail on Boston Harbor. Get out on the water this weekend! The Boston Sailing Center is hosting a free open house on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon, from 1-5 pm. Learn about courses and memberships, and then hitch a ride with an experienced sailor, taking your turn at the helm or just enjoying the view!

Art in Bloom. Join the Museum of Fine Art to celebrate spring with Art in Bloom. Gorgeous floral arrangements inspired by the museum’s collections can be found throughout the galleries, and special events focus on flowers.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
