The Weekender: May 31-June 2

the weekender

Hello, June! This weekend will be warm and full of sun. We can’t wait to get outside, and there are so many amazing things going on this weekend! Here are our top picks:

Summer Block Party. With the warm weather, First Fridays at the ICA are moving outside!  All summer long, Island Creek Oysters is bringing their Pop-Up Oyster Bar to the ICA on Friday evenings, and this Friday you can also try your hand at lawn games like bocce after visiting the museum’s collection. Plus, check out an art-making demonstration inspired by the current exhibition on Barry McGee, as well as spotlight talks in the galleries.

A Toast to Rosé. We can’t think of a better way to welcome the warm weather than to enjoy a glass of rosé on the water! If you feel the same, join 90+ Cellars for a Saturday afternoon boat cruise on Boston Harbor to celebrate the launch of the new Lot 33 rosé. We can’t wait to try it!

Catch the Breeze. Another great way to get out on the water this weekend: the Boston Sailing Center is offering free sails on Boston Harbor as part of their open house on Saturday afternoon! No experience necessary – you can lend a hand, or let the instructor take care of things and enjoy the view.

An Eclectic Gathering. Join The Loft Sessions in Fort Point on Saturday evening for thought-provoking conversation, delicious food, and great music. The young artists involved with Artists for Humanity are showing their paintings and functional pieces at the event – it promises to be an inspiring evening.

Party Harborside. The dParty at the Boston Harbor Shipyard kicks off the Common Boston Festival as well as The Boston Harbor Association’s summer events. Mingle and dance while admiring the amazing views of the city that this venue offers. Admission is free with a donation of new art supplies for the Boston Boys and Girls Club (or a $10 donation).

Make a Difference. The countdown is on! The AIDS Walk and 5k Run Boston is this Sunday, but it’s not too late to get involved and support the AIDS Action Committee. You can make a donation to our team, or participate in another way. Every little bit counts!

Experience Art in Beacon Hill. The Beacon Hill Art Walk returns this Sunday afternoon. Around 100 artists participate, displaying their artwork in the gardens and courtyards of Beacon Hill. Sounds like a great chance to explore the neighborhood and meet interesting artists!
