South End Garden Tour
As much as I love living downtown these days, I do sometimes miss having my own little patch of green. It is always so interesting to see the creative ways that people use urban outdoor spaces.
This weekend, the South End Garden Tour offers a chance to visit the private gardens and community gardens of the area. Whether you are an accomplished urban gardener yourself, or simply curious, the tour seems like a great way to get ideas and spend some time outside! The route includes tiny patio spaces, rooftop terraces, public parks, and community gardens. The proceeds from ticket sales benefit the South End and Lower Roxbury Gardens, which owns and manages 16 community gardens and pocket parks in the neighborhood. Local artists from United South End Artists will be painting in some of the gardens, and visitors are welcome to observe their work. All participants are invited to end the day with a glass of wine at City Year headquarters in the South End, where all of the art produced during the event will be on view (and for sale!).
