Celebrate the Fruits of Our Ocean
One more reason to visit the farmers market: a seafood throwdown! Tomorrow marks the summer kick-off of Celebrate the Fruits of Our Ocean, a campaign to promote local seafood in the community. Local chefs will be competing to create the best dish using a mystery seafood and market produce on Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-3:30 pm at the farmers market on City Hall Plaza. The event aims to bring attention to the importance of caring for the ocean and the benefits of eating local and sustainably caught seafood. Fifteen area farmers markets now offer seafood caught by local day boat fishermen! Learn more on the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance website.
