What’s on your Summer Bucket List?

Often times, summer can be way too scheduled. There are weddings, weekends away, baby showers among other engagements – which are all fun, don’t get us wrong, but there’s something about having time in the warm summer months for spontaneity. This summer, we’re happy to say that there’s a good mix of “things we have on our calendar” and weekends free to try out a few new things. There’s nothing like exploring a small coastal town or trying out a new restaurant, right?

Chris O’Connell, owner of The Boston Rock Gym, and some friends pulled together several “out-of-the-box” activities available around Boston.

Get Rocked. Start the summer off with an “Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing” excursion led by a Boston Rock Gym expert. The class is perfect for those that have never climbed before or have indoor experience only! As a kid, I always wanted to be a rock climber – it was just so badass!

Get Riding. Bring out your inner-cowboy at Bobby’s Ranch, a family owned business operating in Westford, MA since 1972. Riders can enjoy an hour-long western style trail ride along hundreds of acres of conservation land including wooded areas, sand, streams and a pond.

Get Hot. Fly high above southern New Hampshire with High 5 Ballooning. Float through the sky on an hour-long aerial adventure and witness breathtaking views of the White Mountains, Atlantic Ocean, Boston’s skyline and the beautiful Merrimack River Valley. Did you know there are three types of landing while in a hot air balloon? Hope for the smooth one!

Get Speed. After taking to the air, head out on the sea with Boston Harbor Mini Speed Boats. Join a guided tour through the Boston Harbor, past the JFK Library and to some of the most scenic views of Boston including the Charlestown Navy Yard, the USS Constitution, the Boston Harbor Islands and more all while feeding the need for wind in your hair.

Get Deep. Dive into your summer head first at Boston SCUBA, located inside the Boston Harbor Shipyard & Marina in East Boston. Whether you’re planning a future trip or just want to learn how to dive, the team at Boston SCUBA will prepare you in just a few easy sessions with their Open Water Diver Course.

What’s on your summer bucket list? I’m hoping to make a dent in my summer reading list (currently reading this).
