The Weekender: July 19-21

the weekender

Happy weekend! There are so many great things going on around Boston this weekend. Here are our picks for the next few days. Stay cool, and enjoy!

Lemonade. Self-explanatory! We love it simple, or dressed up with something unexpected. Some of our favorite additions: lavender, lime, basil, or cucumber. We also love to mix lemonade with ice tea or Pimm’s! So refreshing.

Open Air Music. The amazing Outside the Box festival continues this weekend, with concerts, theater, dance, and other activities presented free on Boston Common and City Hall Plaza. We have been really impressed by the offerings so far, and can’t wait to check out the weekend schedule! Some of the more familiar names include The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Taj Mahal Trio, The Lemonheads, and The Blind Boys of Alabama.

Chefs At City Hall. As part of Outside the Box, the Fork Lift Food Fest brings pop-up demonstrations, book signings, and tastings to City Hall Plaza this weekend. Participants include some of our favorite local talents, such as Jody Adams of Rialto and Jeremy Sewall of Island Creek Oyster Bar. Plus, there will be a beer and wine tent for the thirsty!

Think Micro at Davis Square. With Artbeat 2013, the Somerville Arts Council is bringing music, dance, crafts, food, and activities to Davis Square. This year’s theme is “micro,” and the festival organizers have invited creative interpretations. For instance, dancers might explore small, subtle movements, while chefs may explore local foods. For more information and the schedule, take a look at the Artbeat website!
