The NINES, an art and music festival
There are so many enticing things to do and places to go during the summer months. While Boston is amazing in the summer, it can be nice to get out of town for a day or two! The Nines festival this Saturday, just 35 miles west of the city in Devens, MA, sounds like a perfect trip.
Designed to be fun for all ages, the festival will feature art installations, exhibits, and interactive art projects, as well as awesome food and beer gardens. Plus, Harvard Square’s Comedy Studio is hosting a comedy tent with some hilarious acts. Says Monica Hinojos, Executive Director of Ayer-based 3Rivers Arts, co-producer of the NINES, “our mission is to bring attention to the breadth of artistic talent in our region, bring top-tier bands to our area and build on this year after year.” There are so many interesting music groups performing at the festival, including the Austin-based Explosions in the Sky, the unique Walter Sickert and the Army of Broken Toys, Shuggie Otis, the DJ Kid Koala and more. Sounds like a great way to spend a summer Saturday!
Saturday, August 10, Devens, MA. Gates open at noon, shows begin at 1 pm. General admission $55, children under 10 free. Visit the NINES website for more information and tickets.
