Boston: Play Me, I’m Yours

Street pianos are here! Last month, we wrote about the upcoming installation of pianos throughout the city, presented with the instruction “Play Me, I’m Yours.” Anyone is welcome to sit down and play, whether they are a trained concert pianist or someone who has never before touched a piano key. Developed by British artist Luke Jerram, the installation has toured 35 cities across the world.

The Celebrity Series of Boston presents the project in the city, with 75 pianos in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline. The kick-off party (in partnership with Opus Affair) on October 5 is an opportunity to toast Street Pianos and the 75th Anniversary of the Celebrity Series.  Decorated by area artists and community organizations, the goal of the project is to bring people together and change the way we use public space. In keeping with the sense of community it fosters, anyone is welcome to share movies, photos, and stories about the pianos on the websitefacebook, and twitter. What a great project – we can’t wait to take the map of piano locations around town and see how they turned out!
