The Weekender: October 11-13

the weekender

Hello Friday! We hope you enjoy this crisp autumn weekend. We are starting to think about Halloween (one of our favorite holidays!) and are taking advantage of all the pleasures of fall in Boston. Here are a few of our picks for this weekend!

Get spooky. Halloween is not that far away, and playing dress up is so much fun! We like to browse the thrift stores for inspiration – try Goodwill and Boomerangs. Catch a scary movie at Coolidge Corner theatre (we still love Hocus Pocus!), or visit a haunted house if you dare!

SOWA Strolling. We love to browse the artisans stands, the vintage shop, and the art galleries before visiting the food trucks and our friend San at The Coffee Trike! This Sunday, stop by the Linden Leaf Designs stand to check out the prints – tell Helen hello from us!

Horns in the Street! This Sunday afternoon, the streets of Harvard Square will be taken over by 24 outrageous marching bands and 200,000+ dancing fans! The HONK! Parade also marks Oktoberfest, complete with festive beer gardens, craft stalls, 50+ food vendors! Festivities begin at noon.

Shifting Seasons. This weekend will be a great time to enjoy the amazing fall foliage! The vibrant reds and oranges are so beautiful, and we can’t resist a drive to an orchard, eating apple cider donuts (of course!), and coming home with the season’s bounty.

Enjoy the Fenway. Especially if your weekend includes the Monday holiday, take the day to explore everything that the Fenway has to offer! Fenway opens their doors with  more than 60 (free!) events and free admissions in 17 locations.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
