the-weekender

Well hello, winter. We are getting snow this weekend! The weather forecast makes staying in look pretty good, but here are a few reasons to leave the house this weekend!

Fort Point Holiday Stroll and Sale. From 4-8 pm today, Fort Point hosts a neighborhood stroll featuring free tastings at local restaurants and discounts at neighborhood shops. Made in Fort Point, which sells the crafts, art, and design from 75 area artists, is offering 10% off any one item today when you mention the code STROLL. Special events continue through weekend at Made in Fort Point, and across the street, 12 artists are hosting a pop-up shop at Midway Studios.

Handmade, From Next Door and Across the World. We know there are plenty of you looking for gifts this weekend, and it is always so nice to find something handmade under the tree! SoWa is back this weekend with the SoWa Holiday Market on Saturday and Sunday, while the Cultural Survival Bazaar brings artisans from around the world to Harvard Square this weekend and Back Bay next weekend. Check out this post for details!

Classical Christmas. A limited number of tickets for Handel’s Messiah at Jordan Hall are still available for tonight and Saturday. Composed in 1741, this work has become one of the most well-known in Western music and is especially popular this time of year. Call the box office at 617-585-1260 or visit them in person at 30 Gainsborough Street to purchase tickets, and for more information available on the Boston Baroque website.

Holiday Revelry. The Christmas Revels features carols, dancing, and storytelling. The group will be sharing traditional music and dance at Sanders Theatre in Harvard Square until December 27. More information and tickets are available on the Revels website.

Lace Up. On Saturday the ice skating rink under the rotunda at the Boston Harbor Hotel opens, with festivities open to the public from 1-4 pm. The rink at the Charles Hotel opens on Sunday, with a party from noon-6 pm. Of course, the Boston Common Frog Pond is open for skating, and serves hot cocoa to warm up after a few turns.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
