Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker
Yesterday was my birthday, and my husband surprised me with an early dinner out and tickets to The Nutcracker. I had seen it once before as a child (I mainly remembered the mouse king), and it was such a treat to see it again!
The Boston Ballet’s production was beautiful, and the costumes and the sets were amazing. The set pieces transformed the stage over and over, from a street to a party to a magical forest with drifts of sparkly snow. The costumes were so well done – everyone in the audience loved the huge dancing bear. It was so sweet to see the smallest dancers in their roles, and imagine how exciting it must be for the students to be on such an important stage, dancing to Tchaikovsky’s well-loved music. It was such a festive night, and really got us into the Christmas spirit!
The Nutcracker, from Boston Ballet at the Boston Opera House. Until December 29. Tickets available on the website.
