It’s hard to believe that in just a few days we will be celebrating the start of 2014! While there are lots of ways to celebrate the New Year, we love all the festivities of First Night Boston. The event features free outdoor activities, plus a range of indoor performances and events accessible with the purchase of the First Night button for $10. The schedule has something for everyone. The kids (and kids-at-heart) will love the parade down Boylston Street from 5:30-6:30 pm, followed by the Family Fireworks at 7 pm from the Boston Common. Evening concerts include The Blind Boys of Alabama, Patti Smith, and the Donald Harrison Quartet. At midnight, a fireworks display over Boston Harbor marks the official start of the New Year.
Events are free to enter with your First Night button as long as space is available, and premium seating passes for certain concerts are also on sale ($35). Buttons are being sold all over town, including at participating CVS, J.P. Licks, and Bank of America locations, BosTix Booths in Copley Square and Faneuil Hall, the Visitor Centers in the Prudential and on Boston Common. For a full list of locations, visit the First Night website.
