We love discovering unique jewelry, and the pieces made by the Somerville-based Nervous System are definitely different from anything we’ve seen elsewhere. Founded by Jessica Rosenkrantz and Jesse Louis-Rosenberg, both interested in working at the intersection of art and technology, the team writes computer programs inspired by patterns seen in nature that they use to create jewelry and other objects.
Above is the porous bracelet and the wave bracelet, inspired by the mineral skeletons created by ocean protazoa and 3-D printed in nylon. Each of the organic forms that Nervous System works with is modelled and manipulated using their computer software. The result is something that simply couldn’t be created using any other method.
