The Weekender: May 30-June 1

weekender

Happy Friday! It looks like we’ll finally be getting a little sunshine this weekend – enjoy! Here are are picks for this weekend:

Fun Run on the Esplanade. Hill House, an urban community center in Beacon Hill, invites you to join them on Saturday afternoon for activities, food, and fun on the Espanade. There is something for everyone, from a “diaper dash”  for the littles, a 1k run or walk, and a 5k run.

Spring with Splendid. LA-based brand Splendid stocks plenty of clothes made for sun-filled days. On Saturday, their boutique at The Street in Chestnut Hill is celebrating the season with Christine Koh (Boston Mamas), Audrey McClelland (Mom Generations) and Roxanna Sarmiento (Everyday Treats). The event is from 2:30-4:30. There will be a candy bar and crafts for big and little kids, plus 20% everything in the store. (You can drop in, but if you know you will stop by, send an email to rsvp and let them know.)

Explore History Outside of the City. As part of Preservation Month, the Trustees of Reservations is opening 10 local historic homes to the public on Saturday from 10am-2pm. The homes range from the Great House at Castle Hill (very fancy) to the Old House at Appleton Farms, America’s oldest working farm. Such a fun reason to take a drive out of the city! For more info, check out the organization’s website.

A Sunday Stroll. Sunday is the Beacon Hill Art Walk! More than 40 painters, sculptors, and photographers are bringing their work into the alleys, hidden gardens, and courtyards of Beacon Hill. I love strolling around and looking at art – this is where I will be on Sunday! The event is from noon-6pm and the starting points are 135 Charles Street and the corner of West Cedar and Cambridge Street.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
