Bikes Not Bombs
After a long winter and a chilly spring, we are so ready for sunny, warm weather! While winter often brings out the hibernator in us, the warmer temperatures make us want to get outside and explore. We love to experience the city on foot, but to cover a lot of ground requires a vehicle – when the weather is nice a bicycle is often just right.
For those of you who want to explore the city by bike and contribute to a good cause at the same time, check out the Bike-A-Thon happening on Sunday June 8th (rain date June 22nd). This event helps raise funds for Bikes Not Bombs, a nonprofit that works to reclaim old bicycles and put them to use through a variety of local and international programs. Starting in JP, riders have the option of cycling 10, 30, 50, or 80 miles along four different routes. It’s such a great way to explore Boston and the surrounding area, and it supports an organization that has been helping our community by promoting cycling as a means of sustainable transportation. Any donation helps them achieve their goal of using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change. If you aren’t planning to ride yourself, but love their mission and want to help, you can donate through my husband Dan’s page – he can log those miles for you this weekend and would so appreciate the support! ;)
