The Weekender: June 27-29

Happy Friday, friends! Summer is truly here, and the forecast for this weekend looks beautiful. Natalie is heading to NYC to celebrate a friend’s engagement, while I am looking forward to taking it easy and enjoying these long summer days. Here are our picks for this weekend:

Friday Fun. The amazing Highland Street Foundation is kicking off their Free Fun Friday series this weekend! Each Friday all summer long, a group of local museums and cultural organizations will offer free admission. This Friday’s group includes MASS MoCA, the zoo, and the MIT Museum. For the whole list and more information, take a look at the Foundation’s website.

Boston Celebrates India. For the first time, the City of Boston is throwing a party to celebrate India! From 6-10pm on Friday, City Hall Plaza will host Indian dance performances, and a fashion show,  followed by a dance party. Find more information here.

Pop Music Power Couple. There are still a few tickets left for Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Saturday night concert in Foxborough. If you’re a fan, you should snap them up!

If You Like It Spicy. If you have more than a few hot sauces in your kitchen, you should head to the South End on Saturday! The Boston Jerkfest is a day celebrating Caribbean food and everything spicy. The event also features rum and beer tastings. Tickets are available on the website. (Note: food and beverages sold separately from admission.)

Catch the Breeze. You can take a sail on the Harbor during the Boston Sailing Center’s open house on Saturday afternoon. Every boat is captained by an experienced sailor, so guests can sit back and relax, while learning more about the center’s programs and memberships. For more info, check out their website.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
