The Weekender: August 1-3

weekender

August is one of my favorite months – by now, summer is in full swing! The forecast may seem less than ideal for the weekend ahead,  but there are still many ways to enjoy this summer weekend.

An Italian Feast. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of St. Agrippina di Mineo Feast this weekend in the North End with Italian food, music, and games.

First Fridays. Dress in your summer whites and head to Boston’s waterfront for First Fridays at the ICA. Tonight’s “white hot” event will feature a pop-up oyster bar, dance party, photo booth, and discussions in the summer exhibit. If you’re feeling ambitious, make your way over to the MFA for live music and drinks for a second taste of First Fridays.

Shakespeare’s in Town. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s Twelfth Night is lighting up the Boston Common until August 10. In its nineteenth year, Shakespeare on the Common is still one of our favorite free events in town. Grab a picnic and head to the park!

Classic Movie Fridays. One of the best things about summer in Boston is being close to the water! Catch a screening of Vertigo at the Boston Harbor Hotel this evening at 8pm – and enjoy the beautiful harbor breeze.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
