The Weekender: August 15-17

weekender

Happy Friday, friends! Another beautiful August weekend is here. Our top picks for a great few days:

Go Fly a Kite. This Saturday, let the kid inside out to play. The Boston Harbor Islands is sponsoring an afternoon of kite flying at Spectacle Island – materials to make your own kite will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Gorillas, Hippos, and Happy Hour. This Saturday, support your furry (and not-so-furry) friends at the 5th Annual Brew at the Zoo, and annual event at the Franklin Park Zoo that supports education and conservation initiatives.

Rescue the Runway. Spend Sunday evening atop The Colonnade at their famed rooftop pool. In honor of cats and dogs, local celebrities will strut the runway alongside pets who are up for adoption. All proceeds benefit one of four Massachusetts-based animal rescue organizations. To purchase tickets and for more information, go here.

Patio Party! On Saturday from 2-5:30pm, head on over to Salon Acote’s gorgeous sun-drenched patio to celebrate the debut of Brass & Knuckles “Paint the Streets” jewelry collection. Go here for more information and please RSVP to party@bashboston.co.

Street Festival, Hong Kong Style. The Hong Kong is a bit of an institution. As the famed restaurant celebrates its 60th birthday this weekend, the 1200 block of Mass Ave. in Cambridge will be closed off for a block party. Highlights include a beer garden, DJ, dancing, and of course, food.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
