The Weekender: September 19-21

weekender

We are looking forward to enjoying the outdoors this weekend with some neighborhood strolling and apple picking. Once the nights get cooler, we find ourselves treasuring the warm days even more! We hope you have a wonderful weekend – here are some of our top picks!

Shifting Seasons. The 11th Annual Revels RiverSing is a free family-friendly event welcoming fall and celebrating the autumnal equinox. You can join in at 5pm in Harvard Square, or between 6 and 7:30pm by the Charles River in Cambridge. Lots of music, art, and fun! Find out more on the event webpage.

South End Open Studios. More than 200 artists are participating in this year’s open studio weekend in the South End! From 11am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday you can get to know the area’s artists. A free shuttle bus will help you make the rounds. More info here.

The Fruits of Fall. The time is ripe for apple picking! ;) We love heading out of the city and into the orchards, and of course bringing a few bags of apples back with us. Read about a few of our favorite orchards.

Public Art. Check out the new mural at Dewey Square, by Shinique Smith (who is also the focus of an MFA exhibit, on view until next spring). There is a free opening party with music, food, and interactive art on Spetember 23, from 5-7pm. More details here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
