International Film Festival with Mad in America. Saturday’s rainy forecast is a perfect excuse to head to the movies. From October 9-12, the Cambridge-based group, Mad in America will be hosting a film festival at the Regent Theatre in Arlington. The four-day program includes 30 films, 40 speakers and panelists, visual art, and more, as we rethink our country’s psychiatry and mental health system. Fenway’s Open Doors. If you are lucky enough to be off of work this Columbus Day, consider heading to the Fenway area for a day full of fun activities including tours, public art installations, and more. To learn more about the day’s activities (including free admission to many of Boston’s cultural institutions), please visit the Fenway Alliance website.

Sunday Beat Hotel Oktoberfest. This Sunday, the Beat Hotel will become a Bavarian Beer Hall in celebration of Oktoberfest. Grab your stein and lederhosen, and head over to Harvard Square for beer and traditional German music.
