The Weekender: January 9-11

weekender

Well, it definitely feels like winter today! We hope you’ve been staying warm, and that you have a wonderful weekend! Here are our picks for the next few days.

Museum Days. When it is cold outside, wandering the halls of one our amazing museums can be a perfect way to spend an afternoon. The MFA’s huge exhibition of Goya’s paintings and prints ends on January 19th. While you are there, don’t forget to check out the Shinique Smith exhibition too!

No Pants. Sunday is the annual Boston no-pants subway ride, inspired by Improv New York. If you are intrigued by this unusual phenomenon, or are interested in participated, check out this instruction video on youtube. (The prank is meant to be funny, not offensive, with lots of people pretending they just happened to forget their pants, and are unconnected to all the other pants-less T-riders.)

Celtic Fest. This weekend is the 12th annual Boston Celtic Music Fest, with musicians, dancers, and singers from Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton, and other Celtic traditions. Find out more on the Club Passim website.

Local Brews. Cozily enjoying a beer on a chilly afternoon sounds good to us! Check out Night Shift Brewing in Everett for something new!

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
