Perfect Dresses from Brass Clothing
We were introduced to Brass recently, and we think these ladies have come up with something great! Childhood friends Katie Doyle and Jay Hallstein admired designer dresses, but couldn’t afford them. They decided to cut out the middle woman and try the ‘direct to consumer’ model that has become popular lately. By not investing in brick and mortar stores, the clothing can be more affordable, while avoiding the problems of ‘fast fashion.’ With backgrounds in e-commerce and design, in 2014 they designed a small dress collection and visited China to build a working relationship with an expert clothing factory. They have since added several new designs, and are working with two respected factories in Hangzhou, China. Their spring/summer collection of five new dresses launches soon – visit the kickstarter to find out more and participate!
As many women are streamlining and simplifying their wardrobes (case in point: the whole capsule wardrobe trend), Katie and Jay saw a need for versatile dresses in a neutral palette, that can take someone through whatever their day would bring. They sent Natalie and I each a dress to try (thanks, ladies!) and we loved the simple styles. Both the fit & flare (on me) and the pencil dress (on Natalie) could be cute with flats during the day or beautiful dressed up with jewelry and fancy shoes for a date night. The fit & flare even had enough room for my little +1. :) So easy!
