SELECT Oyster Bar
I love seafood. In the summer months, my weekend plans often revolve around lobster rolls and fried scallops. There are so many reasons to love summer in New England, and fresh seafood is definitely up there!
I recently visited SELECT Oyster Bar in the Back Bay with a few girlfriends. It had been on my must-visit list since it opened in April, so I was happy to finally try Michael Serpa’s first solo venture.
Upon entering, we were guided through the restaurant and onto their back patio — I had no idea that SELECT had an outdoor seating area! We quickly ordered a bottle of rosé, always a perfect summer choice, along with the scallop ceviche (pictured above and octopus to snack on. I am not normally an octopus fan (it’s always so chewy), but my friend wanted to try this dish so I agreed. I was pleasantly surprised – the dish was one of my favorites of the evening!
I had quite a difficult time selecting a main dish. Remember my love for seafood? I finally decided to order the arctic char, and it was amazing! Paired with feta and cucumber, it was light and delicious. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
All in all, I really enjoyed our evening at SELECT. Our bill was not cheap, but for the quality of food, I think it was worth it. For a special night out (or for oysters at the bar!), I’d definitely recommend stopping in to SELECT.
