Fight Food Deserts with #DrinkGoodDoGood
Around here, this is the season that the farmer’s markets reach their peak. All the fruits and vegetables of summer have gotten their dose of sunshine, and are enticingly ripe. Juicy tomatoes, sweet corn, sturdy eggplant, crisp cucumber – I could go on!
However, there are many cities and towns across the country where access to fresh fruits and vegetables is limited or unaffordable. Nearly 24 million Americans are affected by this, and are living in what some call ‘food deserts.’
Naked Juice has partnered with Wholesome Wave, a non-profit dedicated to creating a vibrant and sustainable food system, to help share the bounty of the season. They are asking people to take a picture holding a vegetable or fruit, tag your friends to do the same, and post using the hashtag #DrinkGoodDoGood. For each photo shared, they will donate 10 pounds of produce – so awesome! You can find out more about the campaign on the DrinkGoodDoGood website. Everyone should have access to fresh, healthy, local foods!
