Open House at the Boston Athenaeum
The Boston Athenaeum is one of my favorite ‘hidden treasures’ in Boston. When I moved back to the city, I was looking for a place to go occasionally to work, and found out about the Athenaeum on Yelp of all places! My husband and I joined the historical membership library (founded in 1807), expecting to take out books every once and a while and to use it as a work space.
While it does fulfill those expectations, it also offers so much more! We met a bunch of really nice people, have attended fascinating lectures, engaging panels, and beautiful concerts, and have enjoyed many, many wine and cheeses since. It is also pretty cool to be reading in the building that houses part of George Washington’s library and many rare books.
This Saturday, the library is hosting an open house, inviting guests to visit the entire building and learn more about the Athenaeum’s history and collections. Doors open at 9am and last admission will be at 3pm. Find out more, and complete an optional registration on the event website.
