The Weekender: October 2-4

weekender

Welcome to October! It looks like we are in for some more wild weather this weekend! We hope you have a nice few days, in spite of the rain. Here are some ideas for this weekend:

HUBweek! This week-long event celebrates the amazing things going on in our city, especially where art, science, and technology collide. There are now over 106 events planned, most of which are free, with at least 16,000 attendees signed up. Find the schedule on the HUBweek website, and make sure to check for changes due to weather.

Let’s Talk About Food. This Saturday, the Let’s Talk About Food Festival comes back to Copley Square, featuring author Marion Nestle, Chef Jody Adams, and many more for a free event including cooking demos, conversations with experts, and chef face-offs. See the full schedule and find out more on the event website.

Cooking Up a Storm. In stormy weather, there is something so nice about having soup on the stove and cookies baking in the oven! Especially since I am expecting a baby so soon, I keep thinking I should cook tons of things to freeze. I never really cook ahead like that, but so many people have been telling me that with the combination of hunger/fatigue/and a newborn to hold that it’s a good idea. Any suggestions? I was thinking about this (the best) and this. {Guess my sweet tooth is showing!}

Story Time. Getting into a book or a TV show is also such an enjoyable way to spend a stormy day. I just finished watching the new season of Longmire – addictive! I’ve heard great things about this book, but haven’t gotten a chance to read it. Any favorites lately?

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
