The Weekender: January 22-24

Happy weekend! There’s been a lot of press about the storm this weekend, but hopefully it will pass us by. Natalie and I are popping up to Salem to spend a night at the newly-opened boutique hotel, The Merchant. It will be the baby’s first time traveling! We are looking forward to visiting the Peabody Essex Museum, and of course eating some good food! Any tips? Here are some ideas for your weekend!

Day Tripping. We love to get out of the city on the weekends, and if you are interested in heading north for a day trip, this guest post from Elizabeth of Newburyport Daytripper has some great suggestions!

Winter World Music. The House of Blues is transformed into an indoor music festival with this Sunday’s CRASHfest. Ten bands on three stages, global street food, and international beer complete the experience. More info and tickets here.

Cozy Snow Day. If it does storm, there is nothing better than staying home with soup on the stove, a little wine in the glass, some great conversation, and a little late night Netflix! Lately I have been into Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle – so creepy and suspenseful!

Winter Wildlife Cruise. Get out on the harbor with naturalists from the National Park Service, New England Aquarium and Mass Audubon to observe animals on the water! Info and tickets here. (In case of severe weather, will be rescheduled for January 30.)

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
