The Weekender: February 26-28

It’s a blustery day out there — this feels more like February! We hope you have a wonderful weekend – here are a few of our picks…

Professors in the Galleries. There are so many talented people at MassArt, students and teachers alike. The current exhibition in the Bakalar & Paine Galleries, Selections, features work from MassArt professors who are new or returning from sabbatical. The show reflects the diverse mediums taught at the school, including pieces ranging from an affordable water pump for subsistence farmers to collaborations with young rappers performing interventionist critiques of art museums. On view through March 5, the galleries are open Monday-Saturday, 12-6pm, and Wednesday, 12-8pm.

Drama On Stage. Onegin returns to the Boston Ballet. We always love a night at the Boston Opera House! The show is full of drama, dancing, and the music of Tchaikovsky. More here.

MBTA Music. Improv Boston presents T: An MBTA Musical every Friday through May 20. The story of three twenty-somethings whose lives derailed by the T until they discover a secret map that will let them overthrow the inadequate system, the show includes songs such as “The Shuttle Bus Song (We Can’t Handle It).” Sounds so funny! Tickets and more on the Improv Boston website.

Big Screen Awards. The Oscars are this Sunday! It’s been a while since we’ve watched the broadcast, but it can be fun to see who wins, and of course check out the red carpet fashion! (Showcase Cinemas is running a bingo contest – play along for a chance to win movie tickets.)

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
