A Delicious Dinner at Ostra


It seems like there’s always a new restaurant popping up that I want to try, but I always end up going to my tried-and-true favorites (ahem, Picco). Ostra has been on my list of must-try restaurants ever since it took over the Avila space. It took me two years but better late than never!

I had heard amazing things about Ostra, from the food to the ambiance. The menu changes seasonally and as soon as I sat down, I was entranced by all of the delicious options! I was especially tempted by the fish dishes, such as the grilled Faroe Island salmon and the salt crusted branzino. I finally decided on the ricotta gnocchetti with lobster to start. The gnocchetti starter reminded me of the most delicious butter served at Menton Boston (all dairy at Menton comes from one cow!). Creamy and rich but not heavy. The flavors of the dish were so complimentary, and the little bits of gnocchetti wonderfully melted in my mouth. I would definitely order this dish again!


For the main course, I ordered the scallops, which I loved. There were four big, juicy scallops finished with a parsley purée. Just delicious!

I have a serious sweet tooth. I can never say no to dessert! There were many inviting options from sorbet to the Tahitian rice brûlée. But in the end I always find myself choosing chocolate. I went for the warm chocolate torte which was perfectly gooey. I absolutely loved what it was paired with, a homemade Tahitian vanilla ice cream. So good!


In addition to the main dining room, Ostra has private dining space and the most charming bar area. I envision cozying up in one of the low bar booths next winter, cocktail in hand.
