The Weekender: April 8-10

Happy Friday! We are so looking forward to having a few relaxing days. We were running around a bit yesterday, and those winds were no joke! It looks like nicer weather is rolling in by the end of the weekend. Hope you have a few nice things planned! Here are some ideas.

Banned in Boston. This annual comedy and music revue raises money for Urban Improv. Tickets are pricey, but benefit the group’s use of theater workshops to help youth with violence prevention and good decision-making. Sounds like such a fun way to spend Friday night! The show is tonight at the House of Blues, starting at 7:45pm. Tickets and more info here.

Art After 5. Tonight’s ICA After 5 event features samples of sparking wine (prosecco versus cava!), and stickers for your nails. program included with regular admission, tonight from 5-8pm.

Slow Looking. Tomorrow is Slow Art Day, an annual event dedicated to taking time to really look at an artwork. Focusing on just one piece makes you notice things you otherwise wouldn’t – such an interesting experiment! Find out more here, or join a group at the MIT List Visual Arts Center to look and talk together.

Brunch. We love to spend weekend mornings nursing coffee over the paper. Maybe accompanied by pancakes, or perhaps these carrot tahini muffins (is it cake or breakfast… or both?!).

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
