The Search for a Better Bagel
When we were kids, we would go with my Dad on the weekends to pick up a dozen bagels and cream cheese. We ate a lot of bagels, and they always signified a slow and easy morning.
It’s safe to say that it’s rare to meet a bagel I don’t like, however, some are so much better than others. Doughy on the inside and crispy on the outside with just the right seasoning (or however you like it). I am partial to pumpernickel, everything, and cinnamon raisin. So all over the place? Yes.
I was introduced to Better Bagels at a pop-up at Short Path Distillery a few months back and I’ve been following them ever since. Their fresh bagels and homemade cream cheeses and spreads are simply delicious. They even cure their own lox! The shapes also vary to a degree, which I love. It reminds me that these bagels are made in small batches and with a whole lot of love.
