Date Night in Charlestown
Recently, I was looking for something different to do. It’s so easy to get into a routine and do the same things when you go out. Matt and I always find ourselves at Picco, and although it is delicious it’s nice to add some variety.
One evening I decided to surprise Matt after work. I told him to meet me at Long Wharf, and that’s it. It was a foggy, humid night which meant that the wharf was practically empty, aside from commuters. It is so awesome to visit the Boston Harbor Islands or take the boat over to Hingham during the summer, but it feels almost mystical to do it at nighttime when the weather isn’t great. Taking the short trip to Charlestown by boat is also such an easy way to get on the water.
We hopped on the boat for a quick ride over to the Charlestown Navy Yard. From there, we walked a few minutes over to Brewer’s Fork, a restaurant I had been reading about and was eager to try. Although so close, we rarely visit Charlestown. It was so nice to try something different – and even get there in a different way.
Brewer’s Fork is an adorable restaurant with lots of brick, reclaimed wood, and a warm ambience. Their menu mostly consists of small plates (including oysters and a charcuterie board), salads, pizza, and we happily tried several. They also have a great selection of draft beers!
Matt and I shared the flatbread pizza, which was so fresh and delicious, and the meatball pizza, which was cooked to perfection. We love pizza, and we’re easily disappointed, but Brewer’s Fork left us craving more!
Important to note that Brewer’s Fork also has a quaint back patio for outdoor dining in the nice weather. I think we’re due to go back and check it out.
Have you gone on any fun date nights recently?
