The Weekender: May 27-29

The last few days have really been a taste of summer! The sun continues on Friday and Saturday — it looks like a great few days to get outdoors! Monday is Memorial Day — enjoy the long weekend. Some fun ideas for the next few days:

Flags on the Common. Volunteers have planted 37,000 flags on the Boston Common in honor of fallen soldiers. It is such a poignant and beautiful reminder of their sacrifice.

Boston Calling. The music festival is back on City Hall Plaza this weekend, with a lineup of acts spanning 3 days. Tickets are available for the entire weekend or single days. We have attended in the past, and it is a fun experience to be at a music festival in the center of the city! Info here.

Around the Campfire. Started as a way to fill a bad booking weekend, Club Passim’s campfire.festival has been introducing new talent in an interactive, collaborative atmosphere for more than 15 years. Take a look at this weekend’s lineup here.

Hit the Virtual Barre. Local studio Barre & Soul is starting live virtual fitness classes over Skype. This weekend, you can try out a class for free (Saturday-Monday). Register here.

Burgers on Newbury. This Saturday, Roost Bistro on Newbury is offering a $10 build your own burger bar for lunch and dinner, (11am-9pm). Options include cheddar, swiss, mozzarella, onions, mushroom, avocado, and fried egg. We haven’t been here yet, but it looks interesting!

Memorial Day at the Museum. The MFA opens its doors free on charge on Monday, with special events and tours. More info here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend!
