The Weekender: June 24-26
It’s beautiful out! We hope you have a few nice days planned. I am hoping to spend a little time with this guy, and maybe spend an afternoon at the beach. Here are a some fun ideas for the weekend:
A Dose of Nature. Have you heard of ‘forest bathing‘? Spending time in nature is actually good for you — which makes sense to anyone who has felt relaxed after a hike or a day looking out on to the water. This weekend I am hoping to pop up to Gloucester for a visit to Wingaersheek or Good Harbor Beach — so beautiful! I’d also love to explore more wooded areas nearby this summer too — any suggestions?
Chefs in Shorts. Another way to enjoy the outdoors Friday evening is the 19th annual Chefs in Shorts event. The area’s leading chefs will fire up the grills at the Seaport Boston Hotel. The $80 tickets benefit Future Chefs, a group supporting urban youth to find education and employment in the culinary field. Tickets sold here.
The Dance Party. No tickets are required to join this free, open to the public, dance party! Friday from 7-11pm, thousands will gather in front of Cambridge City Hall to dance. (Mass Ave. between Bigelow and Inman will be closed to traffic, but open for dancing!) How fun! Full details on the event Facebook page.
The Spicy Side. The Boston JerkFest is bringing the spice to the South End this Friday and Saturday. Caribbean-style jerk spiced foods and Caribbean beverages are featured, with tickets available for food only or including rum and craft beer. To find out more about sessions and tickets, take a look at the schedule.
